Advent 2018 Dear Parish Family, These days and weeks before Christmas are ever a time of Christmas cards and wishes for a bright and joyful New Year. The clergy, their spouses and family, join me in wishing you a holy Advent, merry Christmas and a New Year filled with God's grace and love. As you navigate the joys (and sometimes emotional difficulties) in gathering with family and friends and remembering loved ones who are in the nearer presence of God, we pray that God is a very real presence in each and every moment. Christmas Market 2018
Fall Worship Schedule: Tomorrow we resume our fall worship schedule. We will have Holy Eucharist, Rite I at 7:30 a.m., Holy Eucharist, Rite II at 9:00 a.m. and Holy Eucharist, Rite II at 11:15 a.m.—all in the church. The 9:00 & 11:15 services will have full choir. For those of you who attend the 9:00 liturgy, there should be lots of space as we watch attendance grow as season unfolds. Coffee and chat with Edward during formation.

Men of Trinity gather next on Monday, July 9th at 8 a.m. at the First Watch Restaurant, 225 Banyan Blvd. (across from Lowdermilk Park). All men of the church are welcome to attend. If you have never been to a Men of Trinity gathering, now is a terrific time to join the group for breakfast and fellowship. There is no set agenda during the summer or speakers. 9th Annual Fishing Tournament: There are wait lists available if you haven't signed up for next Saturday. Also, even if you aren't fishing, the BBQ lunch is a great way to spend some of your time on Saturday, and it’s a whole lot of fun to see the anglers return and tell their fish stories. Capt. Lance has assured us of great fishing weather....let the fun begin! Fishing Tournament Raffle: A Day of Fun and History in Ft. Myers. Don’t forget to get your raffle tickets! You can win a trip for a group of 12 to have a private tour of the history of the upper Caloosahatchee River, followed by lunch at Pincher’s restaurant, and ending with a tour of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. This package is valued at $1100—you could win it for only $10 per ticket!
Summer Adult Formation: Some of you have asked for adult formation over the summer and John Hushon has graciously agreed to lead a four-week class for in June. We will start the on June 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. (between services). At the end of June, we can determine whether there are enough folks still in Naples to continue. The topics will focus on the Gospels, perhaps more of an exegesis (study of specific parts) which is not always possible in the larger class context which attempts to cover an entire gospel over the course of several months. The first class (June 3) will be devoted to how the Gospel of John deals with the Pharisees—their interaction with Jesus, the Jewish context of the time, and the Pharisaic concepts that became part of Christian liturgy and creed over the ensuing period.
Free Chamber Music Concert On Wednesday, May 30, at 7 pm, The Naples Philharmonic presents a free concert at Trinity-by-the-Cove, featuring music for harp and strings, with Richard Fleisher, Principal Harp of the Phil. Repertory includes L’Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzolla, and Serenade for Strings by Beethoven. No tickets or reservations are necessary.
The date for Trinity’s Ninth Annual Fishing Tournament is Saturday, June 30th. Mark your calendars now to join in on the fun with your fellow parishioners fishing together in our beautiful environment.
Take a second this Sunday to note the walkway leading from the street to the church. You may recall that it was crumbling and a hazard. Dear Parishioners: The Men of Trinity will meet this Monday, May 14th at 8 am at First Watch Restaurant at 225 Banyan Boulevard #100. All men of the parish are invited to attend. As is our summer practice, we meet at the restaurant with no speakers, great food and the fellowship of the Men of Trinity. These less formal settings are a great way to catch up, tell stories and spend an hour together before heading off to the golf course or other Naples pursuits!
